Check the battery life of the Mountain Radio by single-pressing the power button. In order to protect the battery, the radio will not transmit and only receive transmissions if the charge drops below 15%. If your battery is low, please recharge and give it another try.

If the battery is not low, double-check that the radio you are trying to talk with is on the same channel and privacy code. This is very important, as a mismatch can make it seem that there's something wrong with the radio. This video will walk you through how to enable and set privacy codes on the Mountain Radio.
